Is polyester yarn prone to shrinking or stretching?

Polyester yarn is generally less prone to shrinking or stretching compared to natural fibers like cotton or wool. This is because polyester is a synthetic fiber made from polymers, and its molecular structure is less likely to change when exposed to moisture, heat, or other external factors.

Shrinking: Polyester yarn has a low moisture absorbency rate, which means it doesn't readily absorb water. This characteristic makes it less likely to shrink when exposed to moisture or washed in hot water. However, extreme heat can still cause some minimal shrinkage in polyester, but it's generally much less than what you might experience with natural fibers like cotton.

Stretching: Polyester yarn has good elasticity and is resistant to stretching. It can maintain its shape well, even after being subjected to tension or pressure. However, like any material, if enough force is applied, it can stretch to some extent. Still, it tends to bounce back to its original shape once the tension is released.
